What is this Quangang Hui Bai Gunpowder Green Tea?
Quangang Hui Bai Tea, also known as Qiangang Hui Bai Tea, is a typical Chinese Gunpowder Green Tea named after Quangang Village, Shengzhou, Zhejiang Province. The tea was first created in the Qing Dynasty and was listed as a tribute.
Characteristics of Quangang Hui Bai
The shape of Quangang Hui Bai tea is round as it is hand-rolled in a tea wok during the shaping process, the color is white and frosty. When steeped, the tea soup is light yellow and bright with a refreshing grassy aroma.
Production Processes
1. Plucking
During Spring, usually around Guyu (Mid-April), farmers will start tea plucking. The standard for premium Quangang Hui Bai tea leaves is one bud with two or three leaves with an overall length of around 3-4cm
2. Withering
Spread the tea leaves on a dry and cool surface to reduce moisture until it is ready for the next step.
3. Fixation
The temperature of the tea wok should be about 200℃ during the tea fixation. The fixation process will last for around 8-9 minutes until the tea leaves are soft and the grassy aroma turned to be floral.
4. Shaping
Hand-roll the tea leaves in the tea wok until the tea leaves are sticky.
5. Roasting
To finally dry up the tea leaves until the tea is ready for packaging.
